Introduction
Health literacy is an important piece of patient-centered healthcare. The meaning of health literacy has evolved over the years. Currently health literacy is focused on the skills a patient needs to navigate the healthcare systems.
Instructions
You have been asked to create an infographic on health literacy. You will research health literacy including definition, importance, impact on healthcare outcomes, factors influencing health literacy and strategies to improve it. After gathering your research, you will develop an infographic using a tool of your choice (please review optional materials for infographic tools). You will create your infographic for the healthcare organization of your choice.
Your infographic should include key statistics, definitions, and recommendations to improve health literacy. You will determine the layout of your infographic including sections. You should include visuals such as icons, charts, images and graphs to communicate information about health literacy. Your infographic should clearly illustrate health literacy. Use bullets or short paragraphs to convey information.
Submission
After creating your infographic, post a short summary of your healthcare organization.
Post your infographic as an embedded image in the discussion board. Include
references used to develop your infographic in APA format. Provide feedback to your
peers by responding to two peers. You are required to submit your infographic prior to
responding to your peers.

from college and passed her RHIT when she was hired by a local clinic and she was
excited to start working. A few weeks later, her manager asked to meet with her. The
manager closed the door and told Kelly that she wanted to code the health record for a
particular procedure using two codes instead of one so the reimbursement would be
higher. The manager then proceeded to divulge information that the clinic was
struggling financially so anything extra would help. Kelly got the impression that if she
did not comply, they would let her go. She really needed the job and since it was her
boss asking, she felt obligated to do as she was told.

Introduction
Michael is the HIM director for a large primary care physician group in Holmes County,
Ohio, which is home to a large Amish populate. This group also has a contingent of
several pediatricians. Many of the Amish residents in the community come to the group
for primary healthcare. Michael is aware of the large measles outbreak going on in the
country, which is striking largely unvaccinated populations. He is also aware that within
recent years, an Amish community in Ohio suffered from a measles outbreak as well.

on the 14th, additional documents scanned on the 15th, and the record was coded on the
16th.
As part of the normal course of business, the IT department ran an audit trail to see who

Module 7: City Hospital’s HIM Department
Introduction
Background: The City Hospital HIM department employs 17 people. Only two
employees are male. Ralph is 74 years old and processes the disclosure documentation
for the department. He keeps to himself because he feels that the other employees
think he is slow and they have nothing in common. Seventeen-year-old Celine is a
recent high school graduate who is going to school at night and enjoys social media.
She has a best friend who is getting married to his boyfriend this summer and that is all
she talks about. Teal is a 27-year-old hard worker who is always 7 minutes late for work
in the morning and spends the first 15 minutes after arriving at her desk putting on her
make-up for the day. When she does finally start working, she gets a lot done and
outperforms the others in her department. Teal speaks English as a second language
and is very hard for others in the department to understand. Finally, David is a 54-yearold department manager who is putting in his time before his retirement in four months.
David is a family man who believes strongly in the beliefs of his church and often shares
his church doctrine with his employees during their annual evaluations.
