Discussion: Why some companies make the leap and others don’t

Discussion: Why some companies make the leap and others don’t

According to Wexler, Wycoff, and Fischer (2007), Collins Flywheel is described as a relentless, steady push toward a goal that can produce enough momentum to keep the change moving (p. 44). When I was working third shift, I experienced a flywheel organization. Our shift was very limited with people because some people were in trouble and got suspended. So, our hours became longer, and people were tired and messing up. We began to hear more complaints from the head people. The supervisors and manager were very old and close to retirement, so they didnt really provide any information to anyone. They never listen to anyone and we felt like it was a us against them.  People were so close to quitting but then we had younger supervisors come in and that was the momentum we needed to keep moving forward. The new supervisors were trained by the old ones so we felt they will develop the same habits, but we were wrong. The noticed how many questions and concerns we had and wanted us to feel that we were important and that we were wanted for our jobs. So, they created ways for us to be able to voice our thoughts or concerns by doing mini discussions before we started work.
According to Wexler, Wycoff, and Fischer (2007), doom loop is to run off in one direction then turn and chase another fad in a new direction (p. 44). While going to church I experienced a doom loop organization. The members kept arguing, no one agreed on anything, nobody wanted to join, and we were losing members. There were other churches around us who was experiencing the same thing and they offered advice on how they believe it helped to solve the problem. So, we decided to put their advice in use, but it did nothing for our church it only seem to keep getting worse. Collins (2001) Hedgehog concept is of finding a single organizing idea that works and guides everything into place. My church should have focused on this because there was no momentum to get our church flowing correctly.
My contrast taught me about why so many organizations fall into the Doom Loop rather than build momentum is because of the leadership styles. The issue we had at work was that we had supervisors, but they were not leaders, and in the church, we didnt have leaders. Its important to public safety because they need to understand how important that momentum is because they are the ones out to protect the public.  Meese and Ortmeier (2001) tells how homeland security evolved throughout history. Homeland security organizations control how the homeland is protected. Hebrews 13:7 says to remember the leaders those who spoke a word of God and to consider the outcome of their ways and their faith.

250-word reply to  classmate the reply requires a minimum of 1 properly formatted citation. Each reply must be completed by you, the individual student. Additionally, each thread and reply must reflect a solid Christian worldview through the use of at least 1 Holy Bible reference.
Responding to a classmates post requires both the addition of new ideas and analysis. A particular point made by the classmate must be addressed and built upon by your analysis in order to move the conversation forward. Thus, the response post is a rigorous assignment that requires you to build upon initial posts to develop deeper and more thorough discussion of the ideas introduced in the initial posts. As such, reply posts that merely affirm, restate, or unprofessionally quarrel with the previous post(s) and fail to make a valuable, substantive contribution to the discussion will receive appropriate point deductions
