Stanford University medical researchers conducted a study on the correlation between the use of fertility drugs and ovarian cancer. Their study, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, concludes that the use of the fertility drugs, Pergonal and Serophene, may increase the risk of ovarian cancer by three times. The lead author of the studies, Professor Alice Whittemore, stated, “Our finding in regard to fertility drugs is by no means certain. It is based on very small numbers and is really very tenuous.”
FDA Commissioner David Kessler would like the infertility drug manufacturers to disclose the study findings and offer a warning on the drug packages. He notes, “Even though the epidemiology study is still preliminary, women have a right to know what is known. We’re not looking to make more of this than there is.”
If you were a manufacturer of one of the drugs, would you voluntarily disclose the study information?

As a drug manufacturer, I would voluntarily release the information because disclosing preliminary trial information is a phase in the correct direction to transparency that is beneficial for the pharmaceutical manufacturing and public. The risk of ovarian cancer is developed by the use of drugs since, through a study, it seems that many women can take fertility treatments. The disclosure can help the person to choose and whether to decide the habit to endure or not (Diergaarde & Kurta, 2014).
Fertility drugs support the development of numerous follicles and, therefore, innumerable ovulations by cumulative gonadotropin stages. Formerly few years, some studies have upraised anxieties about fertility drugs that women are using. Due to the higher risk of ovarian cancer, women are not ever pregnant. Similarly, women by infertility were implicit in being at ovarian cancer risk. The individuals need to be well-known that who are not readings properly the instruction then it can describe the likely influences of fertility drugs as of the essential infertility sources, which might separately affect the ovarian cancer risk. Numerous investigations were inspiring the statement that they didnt approve a stable association amid ovarian cancer also the usage of fertility medications. So it is the obligation of a person that before taking medicine they have to make sure about that drug since no one prefers that such drugs above a healthy body (Lindsay, Zain, & Daniel, 2017).
I would like to notify the detained parties by these medication customs. So, It will give influence on the person also it is usual drug as it is exact to distinguish the probable significances connected to the usage. It is very complicated to found the connection amid fertility drugs and ovarian by the fact in which infertility increases ovarian cancer for the woman. Whereas, it is substantial to continually notice, along with making potent effects of consuming fertility drugs at the situation of ovarian cancer risk in which the suppliers of health care along with women observing for cure, also make better choices concerning their well-being by seeing these actualities (Kurta, Moysich, Weissfeld, & Youk, 2012)

In the hypothetical scenario of being a drug manufacturer of either Pergonal or Serophene, I would voluntarily reveal my findings about the relation between these drugs and ovarian cancer.
There has been a lot of research work done in the last many years, on the study of fertility drugs and the threat of ovarian cancer that these drugs poses. Most of these research work points to the fact that women who are infertile or have never been pregnant, have a higher chance of getting ovarian cancer. Also, women who have taken multiple cycles of fertility drugs, specifically Clomid and Serophene, were also at a high risk of getting ovarian cancer.
There has also been some research work that has concluded that there is no link between fertility drugs and ovarian cancer. Between the periods of 1990 to 2013, a study was done in Cochrane on close to 200,000 women and it was found that there was no link between fertility drugs and ovarian cancer. Even in 2012, there was a study done in the US, wherein a large population was studied and there was no link found between ovarian cancer and fertility drugs.
Either way, all drug manufacturers have a responsibility to the people to reveal their findings on the side effects of their drugs to the people, whether they are good or bad. Besides looking at this from an ethical point of view, it would result in numerous lawsuits and court cases, if at a later stage these drug companies were found to promote these drugs after knowing their side effects. Just like how cigarette packets show warnings in their packets on the harms caused by smoking, these drug manufacturers also should give all the relevant information to the people and let them make informed decisions on whether to buy them or not.
