Communication is an important aspect of everyday life. There are many different ways that we communicate with each other, whether it is social media, phone or text conversations, or even face to face contact. In my profession as a State Trooper, communication is extremely important. People want to know why they are being pulled over, why they are getting a ticket or how I determined who was at fault in a collision. Andrew Powers, a police chief stated when you think about community engagement, communication is at the root of it all (Hope, 2018). My dad, before he passed away used to tell me that it was important to treat all people the same, no matter the situation. He was a well-known Sheriffs Deputy in our town and would always tell me that he would talk to a suspect, even the worst of the worst, the same way he would speak to the President of the United States. Obviously, that isnt going to work in every scenario but a lot of times you can get further with people just by talking to them and treating them with respect. Ortmeier and Meese explain that an awareness of the positive or negative consequences of communication behavior that may arise can assist when making the appropriate communication decision at the appropriate time (Ortmeier & Meese, 2010, pg. 130). Just like most people, I have had experiences in my professional life and my personal life where I have confronted the brutal facts and I have had situations where I have not confronted the brutal facts. In my work life, I remember an incident recently where I was investigating a collision and a lady who was not at fault, called my supervisors complaining on for my attitude and inappropriate behavior that I showed her during the incident. In this situation, I had an in-car camera that was recording the whole event so when my supervisor questioned me about what happened I was able to show the video to them and tell them that the lady who complained was the one who was being rude and inappropriate. My supervisors could see that clear as day that I did nothing wrong. Some people do not like having cameras in their cars or on their person but in this situation I was glad because it saved me from getting in trouble for something that I had not done. I try to treat all people with the same respect until they give me a reason not to. Another situation that has happened to my family recently is where another family member accused my brother of something very inappropriate, which was investigated by law enforcement, he was cleared and it was found to have had no truth to the accusation. After this incident, I have not spoken to this other family member and neither has half of my family. I felt like it was best to just forgive and forget in this situation even though it has been hard, I still am relying on God and trusting in him that He is in control. We know that when we follow Gods word everything will work out the way He wants it to and as we are told in Romans 8:28, we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those that are called according to His purpose.

a 250-word reply. The reply requires a minimum of 1 properly formatted citation. Each reply must be completed by you, the individual student. Additionally, each thread and reply must reflect a solid Christian worldview through the use of at least 1 Holy Bible reference.
Responding to a classmates post requires both the addition of new ideas and analysis. A particular point made by the classmate must be addressed and built upon by your analysis in order to move the conversation forward. Thus, the response post is a rigorous assignment that requires you to build upon initial posts to develop deeper and more thorough discussion of the ideas introduced in the initial posts. As such, reply posts that merely affirm, restate, or unprofessionally quarrel with the previous post(s) and fail to make a valuable, substantive contribution to the discussion will receive appropriate point deductions.
